HONOR

Our Pride

Each dolphinarium is unique in its way – some are proud of the large water area, some of the special services provided, and we are proud that most of our bottlenose dolphins were born within the walls of our dolphinarium. Since 1999 the Gelendzhik Dolphinarium pod of bottlenose dolphins has been enriched only by the members born here. As we do not capture wild-life born dolphins, it’s rightly to say that we preserve these Red-Book sea mammals.

A few statistics

The first dolphin born in our dolphinarium came to life on the 25th of December, 2005. On the 28th of July, 2006 the second baby was born, the third – on the 25th of August, 2007. On the 21th of June and the 10th of September, 2009 two other bottlenose females became mothers. On the 2nd of September and the 5th of November, 2012 another babies came to life.

Just for 2013 three baby-dolphins enriched our pod. One of them was born during our tour in Minsk, and two others in Gelendzhik cheering residents and guests of the city.

Only here lives a unique baby-dolphin - the second bottlenose generation born in dolphinarium. Our dolphinarium is a real home for a large and close family of these amazing mammals.

We should mention our veterinarians who take sustained efforts to study gestation of bottlenose females, increase survival of newborns and reduce risk of fetal abnormality. The diet of animals is strict to provide all necessary vitamins and elements depending on condition and character of an animal. All inhabitants receive regular medical examination including extended blood tests and ultrasonography. The veterinarians select a diet and supplements basing on tests results.

A vast statistics of animals care, clinical research and animal physiology study has been collected over the years of the dolphinarium existence.
